How To Change the Default Calendar In Outlook?

Summary: The default calendar in Outlook is the calendar folder which is placed within your default data file mailbox. Therefore, this doesn’t consistently have to be the same as your default mail account. When a new meeting request is received, Outlook will use that calendar to establish an item even when you received an invite message via a distant account.

Verify or Transform Default Mailbox Data File

To arbitrate which mailbox data file is currently set as default within Outlook, purpose Account setting data file tab.

Outlook 2007 and Previous

Step 1. File >> Data file Management.

go to file>data file management in outlook

Outlook 2010 and 2013

Step 1. File >> Account Setting >> Account Setting >> Tab Data files.

Now, to change the default data file, select it and press the “Set as Default” button. If you have elected a data file which can be set as default, Outlook will now apprise you to reopen Outlook.

Note: If you are not assured which data file calendar to endure in, switch to folder list navigation (CTRL + 6).

Calendars within Exchange Accounts

When you add an Exchange account to a mail profile, the mailbox data file will be set as default and can’t be replaced. When you have n number of exchange accounts configured in Ms Outlook or added supplementary exchange mailboxes, then the respective mailbox or account will use its own calendar folder as the default calendar. This will block it from getting mixed up.

Calendar within Hotmail/Outlook.com Accounts

Analogous to Exchange accounts, these accounts will have their own calendar folder as default for dealing with anything related to calendar.

Calendar within IMAP and POP3 Accounts

IMAP and POP3 accounts will use the calendar folder which consists of the default mailbox data file as default calendar. This is also the case when you have authorized a POP3 account data file of its own and created a calendar folder in there.
