This is known as reading receipt in Outlook and it is usually located in the sent box items. Read receipt get stuck in Outlook when SMTP server won’t acquire it but Outlook keeps trying to send it. At such an instance, you need to configure MS Outlook to use an SMTP server that will accept receipts or delete using MFCMAPI.

Problem Caused Due to Stuck Read Receipt

Outlook shows sending messages one out of three but no email in outbox and it keeps failing to send them.

If you are working with a POP3 account and message creating problem in sending then change the port of the outgoing server set it to 587 or 465 and set use the following type of encrypted connection to None and then click on the Ok button. • Step to implement setting in Outlook 2007 and older version: Open Outlook go to the Tools menu then select Options, Preferences, Email Options, Tracking Options.

MFCMAPI to Delete Stuck Read Receipt

Follow the below steps to change the Journal settings that create an automatic recording of items.

•  Firstly “Download MFCMAPI.exe” and run the software
• After that click on the “Ok” button.

• Now select the “Session” tab and click on the “Logon” option.

• After clicking on the logon option this window pop-up here. Select the Outlook profile and click on the “OK” button.

• Now double clicks on the “True Value” profile.

• Now right clicks on “Root Container” and select the “Open Contents Table” option.

• After that, you will see the message with the “Read subject“.

• Click on Mail >> then Select Message arrival >> Uncheck “Display a Desktop Alert “.

• After that click on the Delete message and set the option “Permanent delete passing DELETE_HARD_DELETE (unrecoverable)” and press “OK“.
